Start: May 9 2009 - 2:00pm
End: May 9 2009 - 4:00pm

Popular lecturer and art historian Jeff Mishur is returning to the Morris Area Public Library on Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. to present the slide lecture “Images of ‘Honest Abe.’”  The program examines a variety of depictions of our 16th president.  Images of Lincoln changed throughout the course of his political career and he continued to be a popular source for artwork and material culture after his assassination.  This program examines paintings, photographs, sculptures and material culture relating to Lincoln, as well as their historical context.

Mishur earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Art History from Northern Illinois University.  He teaches university-level art history and art appreciation courses and is a member of the Illinois Humanities Council's “Road Scholars” speakers' bureau.  A lifelong resident of the Chicago area, Mishur has been leading tours of Chicago art museums and Chicago architecture for more than fifteen years.

The program is free, but registration is required.  To register for this program, please call the Morris Library at (815) 942-6880 or register in person at the library.
