The Odd Couple, Conklin's Barn II Dinner Theatre

September 21, 2008  Sunday

Don't miss your chance to see this Neil Simon classic! The bus leaves the library at 10:00 a.m. Please be at the library 15 minutes early. Brunch is at noon and the play starts at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets: $48.00/person (includes brunch, show, and bus)

 

Spirit of Peoria Bus Trip

October 18, 2008  Saturday

Join us as we cruise the Illinois River near Peoria on Illinois's only authentic paddlewheel boat.  Take in the bright Fall foliage from one of three scenic decks.  The bus will leave the library at 10:30 a.m.  Please be at the library no later than 10:15 a.m.

Cost: $30.00 for adults; $28:00 for seniors (age 55+) (includes bus and boat ride).  Lunch is on your own at The River Station Restaurant.

November 6, 2008  Thursday

Eccentric Auntie Mame must learn to raise her nephew Patrick while still living life to the fullest.  The bus leaves the library promptly at 4:30 p.m.  Please be at the library 15 minutes early.  Dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:00 p.m.  Choice of Tilapia, Chicken Breast Marsala, or the Vegetarian meal.

Tickets: $56.00/person (includes bus, show ticket, meal)

Payment is due by September 15, 2008.  No refunds after 9/15/08.

Jeff Mishur, “Natural Wonders of Namibia" presentation

Enjoy an armchair tour of the natural wonders of Namibia presented by popular lecturer Jeff Mishur.  Mishur will present highlights of their 2007 adventure in Namibia featuring photographs of and commentary on the towering apricot colored dunes of the Namib desert (one of the world's oldest and driest deserts). Other highlights of the program include the fascinating landscape of Damaraland, game drives in Etosha National Park, and petroglyphs located at the UNESCO world heritage site of Twyfelfontein.

John Lynn, "The Prairie State Primer"

As entertaining as it is educational, this comprehensive overview of the features, attractions, and heritage of the “Prairie State” tells of the colorful and often surprising story of Illinois.  John Lynn, a Peoria native, has hiked, bicycled, and canoed over 20,000 miles of historic and scenic routes in North America and the British Isles.  He has also walked the 400-mile length of Illinois and over 6,000 miles of park and nature trails within the state.  He is the only person to have visited and photographed all of the Prairie State’s 2,400 cities, towns, and villages.

Maggie Smith, Wreath Making

Enough with the same old holiday decorations!  Maggie Smith of Morris will be teaching a class at the library on making homemade wreaths.  Featured in a January 19, 2008 Morris Daily Herald article, Smith has been making fresh decorative wreaths for years and offers her services at “Our Holiday Farm” in Ottawa.  She will be teaching various skills for making wreaths and providing tips for the care and keeping of your unique creation.
